Dots

History

This game, called Tochki in Russia and Kropki in Poland, seems to have originated in the Soviet Union in the 1970s when the Japanese game of Go was becoming popular, and it was developed as an adaptation that could be played on paper when no Go equipment was available.

It was traditionally played on a 39x32 grid, the size of a page in a Russian school notebook, and is also popular in Poland and the Czech Republic.
